Forty-one years ago, John McCain lay in a North Vietnamese prison, body broken and fighting for life, after his Navy jet was shot down days earlier. McCain, now 72, "didn't think about it much" this past week. Not at all, in fact, until NBC newscaster Tom Brokaw mentioned it in an interview; those nearly six years he spent as a prisoner of war are "kind of a chapter of my life that's over."
